Fighting position that can be garrisoned by infantry or heavy machine gun teams. Reverts to neutral control when ungarrisoned.

The Fighting Nest is a Wehrmacht structure/emplacement. In skirmishes, it can be constructed by the Pioneer Squad, Grenadier Squad, and Coastal Reserves Squad (Coastal Reserves are exclusive to the Italian Coastal Battlegroup).

This unique emplacement is one of several defensive structures the Wehrmacht can produce. It serves as a very cheap defensive garrison that can be constructed in any friendly or neutral territory, and behaves similarly to the USF Fighting Position.

Unlike all other player constructed buildings however, this structure is a neutral structure unless garrisoned. When garrisoned, the building's ownership will change to the appropriate player who owns the unit inside. When it is no longer garrisoned, the Fighting Nest will revert back to neutral status. This means careful placement is important as the Fighting Nest can be taken over and used by enemy players or teammates.

On its own, the structure does nothing. It holds a single slot for garrisoning a single squad of infantry or HMG team. Like other garrisonable structures, other types of heavy weapons teams cannot garrison inside, such as mortars or AT guns.

Units inside benefit from the Fortified Combat Position Bonus passive, which grants the garrisoned squad +25% accuracy and +30% rate of fire. This bonus makes it so it is significantly more dangerous to simply assault the position, forcing opponents to flank or utilize other methods.

The Fighting Nest allows up to 6 individual models to fire out the front and sides, but only up to 4 models can shoot out the rear. Again, this makes placement important as it means the garrison will be less effective when flanked around the rear. This can also be handy if the nest is taken over by enemies, as thoughtful placement can reduce the impact of this action.

Fighting Nests are extremely hardy against small arms, but like all structures are vulnerable to artillery, anti-tank weapons, and flamethrowers.
