Elite infantry very effective against infantry at medium and long-range. Can throw smoke and Assault Grenades.
The Gurkha Rifles Section is an elite UKF infantry unit. In multiplayer skirmishes, they are only available as a call-in from the Indian Artillery Battlegroup.
As with all elite infantry, Gurkhas are more expensive but higher quality troops. With a large squad size and high health, they are far tougher to kill compared to average mainline troops. By default they are armed with their own variant of Lee Enfield rifles that are more effective than
In addition, they also have access to hand grenades and smoke grenades by default (see abilities section for more details). Upon reaching veterancy level 1, they gain another active ability called Ayo Gorkhali!, which temporarily boosts their movement speed, rate of fire, and accuracy while reducing enemy rate of fire and accuracy. See veterancy section for more details.
They can be further specialized with weapon upgrades that improve anti-infantry capabilities. More information about their available upgrades and abilities can be seen below.
As a downside to being so specialized at anti-infantry, the Gurkhas have no way of dealing with vehicles. With lack of anti-tank snares or weaponry, they will need other units to aid them when it comes to fighting armour.

Ayo Gorkhali!: Active ability that is gained upon reaching veterancy level 1. When activated, the squad gains a plethora of bonuses for 10 seconds: +50% movement speed, +50% rate of fire, and -25% incoming suppression. In addition, for the duration the squad also weakens nearby enemy infantry, granting them -20% rate of fire and -20% accuracy. This is a powerful multi-purpose ability to help gain the edge, such as using it to 'sprint' over to a new position faster, weaken enemy units that are rushing into close quarters, or just simply getting powerful combat bonuses to win fights. Has a very long cooldown.

Gurkhas can be upgraded with either the Bren Light Machine Gun or the Thompson Submachine Gun Package.
The Bren LMG upgrade grants a single Bren LMG that increases anti-infantry performance at all ranges, especially at longer ranges. In addition, unlike the
The Thompson SMG package grants the entire squad Thompson SMGs, making the squad very effective at close range at the cost of greatly reducing anti-infantry performance beyond close quarters.

Note: Forward Observer Artillery Barrage is campaign exclusive and is not available to this unit in skirmishes.
Grenade Assault: Active ability. Every member of the squad will throw a grenade at the target area. As expected, it is very effective against stationary infantry units, especially in cover or garrisoned in a building. Note that it is dependent on the number of squad members alive, so the ability will generate less grenades if there are missing squad members and thus be less effective.
Smoke Grenade: Active ability. Throws a smoke grenade at the target area, which obscures vision for all units looking toward the smoked area. Smoke can be useful for a variety of purposes, such as obscuring line of sight to prevent an HMG from firing on friendly units.
Infantry Training: Available from the
Valour: Once Valour is attained from the Indian Artillery battlegroup, all UKF infantry gain the passive ability Valour. When the squad loses half of its members (rounding down), Valour will activate, granting bonuses to the squad. In the case of Gurkhas, it will only activate when down to three or less members. Likewise, it will deactivate if the number of squad members is more than half. Bonuses include -15% incoming damage, +15% rate of fire, and +15% accuracy, and these bonuses are further increased by +5% up to twice, maximizing when down to the last soldier.

This unit represents the Royal Gurkha Rifles, a rifle regiment in the British Army. As such, they have a Nepali accent.
Unlike other regiments in the British Army, these soldiers are recruited from Nepal which is neither a dependent territory of the UK, nor a Commonwealth member.
"Ayo Gorkhali!" is a battle cry that means "The Gurkhas are here!" or "The Gurkhas are upon us!".
