Very effective against infantry. Can damage light vehicles and shoot down aircraft. Can suppress infantry when stationary Low armor

The Flakvierling Half-Track is a DAK light vehicle unit. In skirmishes it is available from the after Fire Support Elements has been researched.

The Flakvierling is armed with an anti-aircraft autocannon - thus, it has one of the few weapons in the game capable of taking down aircraft. Against ground targets, it is effective against infantry and light vehicles, although it lacks penetration and thus struggles to deal with most armour.

The Flakvierling fulfills a similar niche to the , in the sense that they are best used as shock vehicles to overrun infantry and heavy weapons. If attained early, the Flakvierling can be devastating to infantry unless they are in cover, thanks to its impressive anti-infantry performance even at long range. However, unlike the 8 Rad, the Flalkvierling is best used at safer ranges (more details below).

Unlike most vehicles, the Flakvierling is capable of suppressing infantry with its default weapon. This is what really makes it powerful against infantry, as it is capable of doing this but is not restricted like an MG team would be. This means it can still move while firing and has no need for long set-up times. Having suppression on a mobile vehicle allows the Flakvierling to be able to actually fight effectively against even infantry armed with anti-tank weapons, since it can actively suppress troops while 'kiting' at long range, assuming the player can keep up with micromanagement demands.

As with most halftracks, this unit has low durability with low health and armour values, so careful positioning is essential. It is vulnerable to damage from small arms, and can be easily destroyed by most weapons. In addition, the Flakvierling's weapon faces the rear of the vehicle naturally which creates a delay when firing at targets in front of it, although this weapon can turn and fire in any direction. While the Flakvierling has similar top speed to the 8 Rad and , it ultimately has less mobility due to its worse acceleration which makes it difficult to quickly move and stop in combat situations. As such, unlike those aforementioned units, the Flakvierling is best used at range rather than rushing in from the flanks unless it is truly safe to do so.

At veterancy level 1 it gains the active ability Armor-Piercing Ammunition which temporarily increases its penetration at the cost of reduced area of effect. Its attack will also slow enemy vehicles for this duration. This ability can be quite handy when damage is needed against the more armoured light vehicles like M8 Greyhounds and M3 Stuarts, although it is not a replacement for true anti-tank weapons.

Veterancy Abilities

  • Armor-Piercing Ammunition: Active ability gained upon reaching veterancy level 1. Once activated, for a limited duration the Flakvierling has increased penetration but reduced area of effect., in addition to slowing enemy vehicles it attacks. This basically allows it to temporarily have better anti-vehicle performance at the cost of reduced anti-infantry performance. While the penetration increase is significant, it is not a replacement for a true anti-tank weapon. It will improve its damage against many light vehicles, but ultimately will still require many bursts to actually take down more armoured vehicles like the M8 Greyhound, M24 Chaffee, or M3 Stuart. As such, this is best used against snared vehicles that cannot run away, and/or firing into the flanks especially at close range. The slowing effect can be quite handy to help keep a vehicle in place for more appropriate anti-tank weapons to fire on it.

Armory Upgrades/Abilities

  • Emergency Repair Kits: Passive ability. The unit will repair itself when stationary and out of combat. Requires the Emergency Repair Kits upgrade from the Armory.

  • Smoke Canisters: Active ability. Drops smoke directly in front of the vehicle. Requires the Vehicle Survival Package upgrade from the Armory.

  • Vehicle Capture: Passive ability. The unit gains increased movement speed, rotation rate, and is able to capture/decapture territory. Requires the Rapid Advance upgrade from the Armory.

  • Tungsten Core Ammunition: Globally upgrades the penetration of all tank guns and autocannons. Cosmetically the weapon's tracer effects are also changed to a greenish colour.

Armored Support Battlegroup

  • Vehicle Awareness: Passive ability. The vehicle can detect enemy vehicles in the fog of war. Requires the Vehicle Awareness perk.

  • Panzer Storm: Active battlegroup ability. Upon activation, globally increases the speed of all vehicles and grants them immunity to engine criticals for the duration.
