Light vehicle effective against infantry and structures at range. Can be damaged by small-arms.

The Stummel Half-Track is a Wehrmacht vehicle unit. In skirmishes, it cannot be produced directly and instead is a conversion upgrade available to the .

Once the 251 is converted to this form, it gains an pseudo-artillery weapon effective against infantry and structures/garrisons. In exchange, it loses all of its utility functions including ability to reinforce squads, transport troops, tow weapons, re-crew abandoned weapons, loss of Support Veterancy passive, and replaces its veterancy ability entirely. Otherwise, its stats remain identical including same mobility and durability.

The Stummel's cannon behaves similarly to the weapons seen on the and the USF . Unlike most tank cannons that fire direct projectiles, this unit fires indirect lobbing projectiles with more noticeable travel time, and upon landing explodes much like an artillery strike. The large area of effect makes it effective against infantry although it is far more effective against stationary targets, as moving targets can potentially avoid most of the damage. It deals bonus damage to structures/garrisons, making it an effective support weapon for the player's own infantry performing assaults on entrenched positions. It can deal a surprising amount of damage to light vehicles, although with little penetration power it is ineffective against most armoured targets, not to mention most vehicles can easily move out of the way.

The Stummel's weapon only faces forward and thus the vehicle must always rotate to face its target before firing.

By default it has access to High-Explosive Barrage, allowing it to fire multiple volleys at a target area similar to any other artillery barrage ability. It also has access to Smoke Barrage for more utility purposes, making it one of few ways for Wehrmacht to create smoke clouds at longer ranges.

At veterancy level 1 it gains the Blinding Shot active ability, allowing the Stummel to spend Munitions in order to fire a special shot directly at an enemy vehicle, debilitating it with reduced vision, speed, and disabled weapons temporarily.

Overall the Stummel can be a useful support weapon to help attack entrenched positions and act as a sort of artillery weapon when barrages are available. A veteran Stummel can also serve to support anti-tank duties, as it will have access to a ranged snare ability to help dedicated AT weapons gain the advantage. As with any other light vehicle, it is quite light on durability and thus careful management is required as it can be quite vulnerable to quick destruction.

As a 251 variant, it can gain access to the Repair Crews passive through the Mechanized Battlegroup. See below sections for more info.

Veterancy Abilities

  • Blinding Shot: Active ability gained upon reaching veterancy level 1. The Stummel fires a direct special shot at the targeted enemy vehicle, for a Munitions cost. This shot deals damage and temporarily debilitates the target, including disabling its weapons and reducing its vision and speed for a short duration. Essentially a ranged anti-tank snare ability, this helps the Stummel stay relevant in the later stages of a match by allowing it to support anti-tank endeavours. Combine with dedicated anti-tank weapons for best effect.

  • High-Explosive Barrage: Active ability. Fires a barrage of artillery rounds at the target location. The Stummel has a decent range although it is noticeably shorter than various artillery pieces. Count as medium artillery and so its area of effect and damage is greater than some lighter forms like mortars, albeit at a slower rate of fire. Most effective against infantry and structures/garrisons, especially stationary targets. Can be surprisingly damaging to light vehicles too, although in general vehicles are mobile enough to avoid damage.

  • Smoke Barrage: Active ability. Fires a barrage of smoke rounds at the target location with similar range to a regular barrage. These do not deal damage, and instead create sight-obscuring smoke clouds. Smoke is useful for a variety of offensive and defensive purposes. The Stummel is one of few ways Wehrmacht can create smoke cover at longer ranges.

  • Raid Package: Passive ability. Requires the Raid Package perk from Mechanized Battlegroup. Globally allows all light vehicles to capture territory and all vehicles can use the Smoke Canisters ability.

  • Smoke Canisters: Active ability. Requires the Raid Package perk from Mechanized Battlegroup. Drops a smoke cloud immediately in front of the vehicle, obscuring line of sight. Useful especially in defensive situations in order to escape fire from enemy units.

  • Repair Crews: Passive ability. Requires the Repair Crews perk from Mechanized Battlegroup. Grants the and its variants ( and ), as well as the the passive ability Repair Crews, allowing them to repair nearby friendly vehicles while stationary and out of combat.
