Advanced infantry effective against infantry at medium and long-range. Can fire smoke grenades.
The Jäger Squad is an advanced Wehrmacht infantry unit. In skirmishes, it is available from the
As mentioned on the
Jägers have much greater durability over Grenadiers by a significant amount, having 110 health per model but with a slightly smaller squad size of 5. Offensively, by default this unit is essentially a superior version of the Grenadiers, having a similar damage curve but with higher damage per second (DPS) at all ranges. Compared to the Wehrmacht
By default this unit has access to the Smoke Grenade ability, allowing them to create sight-obscuring smoke clouds.
For a Munitions cost, Jäger squads can be upgraded with either the Reconaissance Package or RPzB 54 Panzerschreck, adding additional anti-infantry or anti-vehicle power. The recon package grants the squad two scoped G43s which are superior to their default rifles, increased vision range, increased capture and decapture speed, and the Recon Flare ability. The Panzerschreck grants the squad one rocket launcher that is effective against vehicles but ineffective against infantry. More info can be found in the below sections.
At veterancy level 1 this unit gains the Ambush Tactics passive ability, allowing them to camouflage when in cover and out of combat. When attacking to break this invisibility, they temporarily gain an ambush bonus of increased damage and accuracy for a short duration.
Overall Jägers are suitable replacements for 'mainline' infantry, as by default they work basically the same as Grenadiers offensively but with better numbers all around. Wehrmacht players will often need to choose between building either the
However, on the other hand the Panzerschreck makes them a useful mobile threat to vehicles, especially as the
Compared to Panzergrenadiers, Jägers are more skewed for longer ranged combat, as well as defensive and utility purposes. While they're not as good as assault units that can rush into enemy positions (especially with a lack of frag grenades), their upgrade options grant them flexibility especially with Panzerschrecks allowing them to fight enemy vehicles.

Ambush Tactics: Passive ability. Works the same as Concealment. This unit can cloak when in cover and out of combat, rendering them invisible to enemies unless an enemy unit moves too close. Moving out of cover for too long, attacking, or using abilities will cancel this cloak. Attacking to break the invisibility will grant the unit a temporary ambush bonus of +25% damage and +40% accuracy for 5 seconds. Overall a strong veteran ability for Jägers, granting them an effective way to hide and defend key areas. Since they are effective at range, especially with the Reconnaissance Package, they are easier to micromanage as auto-attacking at range is less of a concern compared to needing to wait to strike at closer ranges. Otherwise, this ambush bonus pairs very well with a Panzerschreck, greatly increasing the odds of dealing good damage against an approaching vehicle.

Reconnaissance Package: For a Munitions cost, upgrades the squad with new weapons, various bonuses, and a new ability. Grants two Scoped G43 rifles that are superior to their default rifles, dealing overall greater DPS at most ranges and also has a special +25% accuracy against units in cover. The squad also gains +7 vision range, +20% capture and decapture speed, and unlocks the Recon Flare ability. Overall, this package specializes the Jägers into an anti-infantry and utility powerhouse. The direct DPS boost is significant especially since the scoped rifles can nullify some cover bonuses, leading to overall better combat effectiveness. The extra sight range and territory capture speed is also handy when going on the offensive and/or scouting, especially with the new Recon Flare ability.
RPzB 54 Panzerschreck: For a Munitions cost, upgrades the squad with one Panzerschreck. This rocket launcher allows the squad to effectively fight vehicles, with fairly good damage and penetration values. Cannot be fired on the move, and is ineffective against infantry. Generally an important and popular upgrade choice due to lack of AT options when building the

Smoke Grenade: Active ability. The squad fires a smoke grenade via launcher at the target location, creating a sight-obscuring smoke cloud. Has a longer max range than usual grenade throw abilities, but also has a minimum range. Smoke is useful for a variety of offensive and defensive purposes. Free cost, but long cooldown.
Recon Flare: Active ability unlocked only after the unit is upgraded with Reconnaissance Package. The squad launches a flare at the target location, which reveals a large area temporarily. Great for getting reconnaissance of a desired area, especially due to its long range allowing for scouting without compromising safety.

The scoped G43 rifles that the squad can gain when upgraded with Reconnaissance Package has far better long range accuracy than the default rifle, as well as higher raw damage value. Combined with its bonus to enemies in cover, it is a straight upgrade that increases the Jäger's anti-infantry performance overall, but mostly noticeable at longer range.

Rifle accuracy increased from 0.65/0.59/0.4 to 0.81/0.74/0.5
Scoped Rifle cooldown reduced from 1/1.5 to 0.8/1.25

We are slightly increasing the damage per second of the Scoped Rifles to allow upgraded Jeager squads to have more combat power when upgraded with the Reconnaissance Package.
