Heavy weapon very effective against structures, team weapons, and stationary infantry at long-range. Must be set-up to attack.
Note: This page refers to the UKF version. For the USF version, see here:
Both units are identical with access to the same artillery barrage abilities
The M1 Pack Howitzer Team is an elite UKF artillery unit. In skirmishes it can only be accessed through the Royal Air and Sea Battlegroup. Once the M1 Pack Howitzer Paradrop ability is unlocked, the unit may be airdropped anywhere on the map except the enemy HQ territory.
This unit is functionally identical to the USF version. The weapon uses the exact same stats, and thus barrages for both versions are equally damaging. However, the USF Howitzer does have less health compared to the UKF version. This means the USF version of the weapon itself is easier to destroy if it is fired upon when abandoned on the battlefield.
This artillery unit functions essentially as medium artillery, in between the lighter 3 Inch Mortar Team and heavier artillery like the BL5.5 Artillery Emplacement. It can barrage with high-explosive volleys to destructive effect, forcing opponents to move their units or take significant damage. The Pack Howitzer also has access to Smoke Barrages by default, and Incendiary Barrages at veterancy level 1.
As with other artillery units, it is best used at long range and far away from threats as if it is caught out, it has little ability to defend itself or escape easily. Like standard mortars, it is capable of auto attacking (or attack ground command) at a very slow rate of fire. While generally too slow to be very effective, it allows the artillery to continue contributing while its barrage abilities are on cooldown. Unlike standard mortars, its volleys are more powerful and capable of doing more damage upon striking enemies.
For more immediate and devastating damage, use its High-Explosive Barrage ability to fire multiple volleys at a faster rate. Smoke Barrage is great utility to obscure vision in an area for various purposes, usually to prevent things like HMGs from firing on your units advancing forward. At veterancy level 1, the unit gains access to Incendiary Barrage which lacks immediate damage but leaves behind fire that will continuously damage infantry and buildings in the area - great for extended area denial.
Mobility-wise the Pack Howitzer is similar to AT guns, in that it is light enough for the team to move independently, but is cumbersome enough that the team requires set-up before firing, and is still slower moving than most infantry. Similarly, this weapon can also be towed.
As with most heavy weapons, if the weapon crew is killed the howitzer will be abandoned on the field and can be re-crewed by any player, including the enemy!
This unit benefits from the Team Weapons Training upgrade available at the Training Center.

Incendiary Barrage: Active ability earned after reaching veterancy level 1. Fires incendiary rounds that continuously damage infantry and structures in the area after detonating. Essentially trades the immediate damage of a high-explosive barrage, for damage over time that is only effective against infantry and structures. Great for extended area denial as like regular barrages it forces opponents to move their units, but due to the lingering fire it helps prevent enemies from setting up again quickly. This barrage can also be helpful in dissuading enemies from picking up dropped weapons.

High-Explosive Barrage: Fires multiple volleys of high explosive rounds at the target area, with larger damage and area of effect compared to standard mortars.
Smoke Barrage: Fires multiple smoke rounds to the target area, obscuring line of sight for all units attempting to see through it. Smoke is useful for a variety of offensive and defensive purposes.
Team Weapon Training: Available from the Training Center. Grants +800 veterancy XP. Veteran weapons team gains +10% accuracy, +10% reload speed, and -10% received accuracy.
