Light vehicle effective against structures and infantry.
The M8 Scott SPG is a USF light vehicle unit. In skirmishes, it is only available exclusively with the Armored Battlegroup as a call-in.
The M8 Scott is a light vehicle with fairly light durability, comparable to the
By default the M8 Scott can perform High-Explosive and Smoke barrages similar to other artillery units. Due to the low arc of the projectiles fired from this unit, note that elevated terrain/structures can interfere with the actual landing of these barrages. At veterancy level 1 it can choose between the White Phosphorus Barrage or Bunker Buster Barrage abilities, enabling more options for tackling obstacles. See below sections for more info.
Once deployed the M8 Scott can be a powerful asset, as it pairs vehicle mobility with a pseudo-artillery weapon. It has enough armour to ignore small arms bullets, allowing it to effectively bully infantry if appropriate counter measures are not available. Thus, if attained early enough, it can often have the same kind of 'shock' value an early
A popular option is to use the Veteran Crews Battlegroup perk to guarantee veterancy level 1 to the M8 Scott, allowing it access to white phosphorus barrages immediately. This adds a powerful combat option as the lingering damage from these clouds adds in area denial capabilities, making it especially useful to deal with set up heavy weapons and/or double as a smoke screen.
Like other light vehicles, it ultimately still has fairly low health and armour values, so careful micromanagement is required to keep it alive and active once appropriate countermeasures are deployed by opponents.

All USF units can choose between one of two veterancy abilities specific to them, upon reaching veterancy level 1.
White Phophorus Barrage: Active ability. Fires a barrage of white phosphorus rounds that create sight-obscuring smoke clouds at the target location. However these clouds also deal continuous damage to any infantry in its area of effect. Useful for area denial due to the lingering damage, especially useful to discourage units entering or setting up in its area of effect. A popular veteran option for the M8 Scott as it adds useful utility not normally available to it.
Bunker Buster Barrage: Active ability. Fires a volley of specialized rounds at the target area. These rounds have a delayed fuze, meaning instead of exploding on impact, there is a short delay before each explosion. As the name implies, these rounds deal substantial extra damage especially to structures and garrisons. Due to the delay, it is not effective against wary opponents with mobile units. A fairly niche ability choice due to the competitive advantages White Phosphorus offers, as well as some redundancy as the M8 Scott deals decent damage to static garrisons/structures. However, Bunker Buster Barrage does far offer greater range than regular attacks/barrages, allowing it to damage fortifications from safer distances.

Note: HEAT Rounds and Emergency Engine Repair are not available in skirmishes.
High-Explosive Barrage: Active ability. Fires off several explosive rounds at the target area, with a moderate blast radius for each explosion. Stronger damage compared to lighter mortars. Most effective against stationary and garrisoned infantry targets, though it can deal adequate damage to light vehicles too. Not effective against armour.
Smoke Barrage: Active ability. Fires off several smoke rounds. These do not deal damage and instead saturate the target area with sight-blocking smoke clouds. This is a great way to deny vision for various purposes, such as preventing an enemy HMG from firing on your troops.
This unit can benefit from the following battlegroup perks.
Veteran Crews: Grants veterancy level 1 to all current and future vehicles.
Strength in Steel: Reduces the population cap cost and upkeep of all vehicles.
Field Repairs: Active battlegroup ability. Once activated, all vehicles will automatically self-repair when stationary and out of combat for the duration of the ability.

"SPG" stands for Self-Propelled Gun, which describes artillery that is equipped with its own propulsion system to move into position.
M8 Scott SPG
The Scott was underperforming compared to its Axis counterpart, the Stummel, despite being available later, battlegroup locked, and competing with the powerful Seek and Destroy ability. The following changes increase its damage against infantry and survivability, making it a sturdy anti-infantry and anti-structure light vehicle.
Health increased from 360 to 420
Area of effect distance increased from 1 to 2
Area of effect radius increased from 5.5 to 6
Area of effect damage increased from 0.33/0.25/0.15 to 0.35/0.25/0.2
Fixed an issue where the M8 Scott could crush infantry.
We want the Scott to be better at attacking defensive structures directly. Bunker-buster has also been changed to be a long-range pressure tool that is very effective at destroying emplacements without endangering the Scott.
Standard attack and barrage damage penalty against emplacement and bunkers removed.
Bunker-buster range increased from 50 to 75
Bunker-buster bonus damage decreased from 100% to 33%
Bunker-buster recharge time reduced from 60 to 40
Angle scatter reduced from 6 to 5
Distance Scatter max reduced from 8 to 6
Cost increased from 0 to 35 munitions

Vertical tracking speed increased from 15 to 35
