Light vehicle effective against infantry and snipers. Vulnerable to small-arms. Can reveal nearby camouflaged units.
The 1/4-Ton 4x4 Truck (commonly referred to as simply "Jeep") is a USF light vehicle unit. In skirmishes it is available from the
The Jeep boasts impressive damage per second (DPS) values against infantry compared to other equivalent recon vehicles. Its damage curve is heavily skewed towards close quarters, with far higher DPS at close range compared to longer ranges. Compared to the Wehrmacht
By default it can tow many abandoned heavy weapons such as AT guns, but lacks transportation capacity and thus cannot tow crewed weapons. Its small size prevents it from towing larger weapons such as 17 Pounders or FlaK 38 AT Guns however. It also benefits from Support Veterancy which allows it to gain veterancy experience (XP) when nearby friendly units gain XP, allowing it to still gain XP even when not actively attacking. The Jeep has access to the Self-Repair active ability, which allows it to temporarily disable its movement and weapon to repair itself back up to full health.
The Jeep is best used in the early stages of a skirmish, utilizing its great mobility to harass enemies and flank heavy weapons to force them to move. This is supported with its stronger DPS at close range, encouraging more aggressive gameplay. However, it is a very light vehicle and thus careful management is a must, as it is very vulnerable to small arms fire and overall has low health. Fortunately, by default it has access to Self-Repair which grants it a high level of independence, allowing a savvy player to use the Jeep aggressively and then retreat to repair quickly without requiring an Engineer squad to tend to it. However, this ability does have a long cooldown.
Overall however, the Jeep scales poorly as a combat vehicle. After only a short amount of time passes in each match, its extremely low health and vulnerability prevents it from taking part in aggressive combat. Like any other recon vehicle, it 'scales' through utility such as being an effective scout vehicle with detection capability. Due to this poor scaling, it is very risky to build more than 1 Jeep in a match as the precious Manpower is often better spent on other units in the long term.
Upon reaching veterancy level 1 it can choose between the Capture Territory or Re-Supply Platform abilities, granting it incredible utility. Capture Territory enables it to capture/decapture points, while Re-Supply Platform allows it to drop an unmanned HMG or Mortar for a Munitions cost. More information about these abilities can be found below.
To aid with scaling, the Jeep can be upgraded with Scout Commander for a Munitions cost, which increases its sight range and enables detection of enemy units through the fog of war. See the abilities section for more info.
A common strategy for making use of Jeeps is through the Armored Battlegroup, specifically the Veteran Crews perk which grants veterancy level 1 to all current and future vehicles. This has no CP cost and thus can be attained immediately, allowing one access to the Jeep's veterancy abilities as soon as possible.

All USF units can choose between one of two veterancy abilities specific to them, upon reaching veterancy level 1.
Capture Territory: Passive ability. Enables the unit to capture and decapture territory. This can be especially powerful on the Jeep due to its fast mobility. A common strategy to utilize this immediately in the early game is through the Armored Battlegroup, specifically the Veteran Crews perk which grants veterancy level 1 to all current and future vehicle units. This enables territory capture immediately for Jeeps, essentially allowing them to act like the DAK
Re-Supply Platform: Enables the Jeep access to two additional abilities which involve producing an unmanned weapon in the target location, for a Munitions cost. While the Munitions cost is heavy, it is very handy as a way to produce either an HMG or a Mortar on demand without having to build those squads specifically from USF buildings. This allows a method to get around tech costs (ex. Skipping constructing the
It also improves its Self-Repair ability by removing the movement penalty, allowing the Jeep to move freely during the repair duration. However, its weapon still remains disabled during the repairs.
Deploy Heavy Machine Gun: Deploys an unmanned M1919 Machine Gun at the target location.
Deploy M1 Mortar: Deploys an unmanned M1 Mortar at the target location.

Note: Side Skirts is campaign exclusive and is not available in skirmishes.
Scout Commander: Upgrades the unit with +10 vision range. Also adds the passive ability Signal Detection, allowing the unit to detect enemy units in the fog of war when stationary, up to a range of 90. See the abilities section for more info.
This unit can benefit from the following battlegroup perks.
Veteran Crews: Grants veterancy level 1 to all current and future vehicles.
Fast Deploy: Reduces the production time of vehicles significantly.
Strength in Steel: Reduces the population cap cost and upkeep of all vehicles.
Field Repairs: Active battlegroup ability. Once activated, all vehicles will automatically self-repair when stationary and out of combat for the duration of the ability.
Seek and Destroy: Active battlegroup ability. Once activated, temporarily grants increased movement speed, accuracy, and rate of fire to all vehicles for the duration of the ability.
War Machine: Reduces the Manpower cost of all vehicles by 25%.

Towing Heavy Weapons: This unit is capable of towing various heavy weapons such as AT guns. However, it can only tow abandoned weapons - it does not have transportation capacity and thus cannot transport live crewmen. As the unit is small, it also cannot tow the heaviest of weapons such as the 17 Pounder and FlaK 38 AT Guns.
Support Veterancy: This unit gains veterancy XP when nearby friendly units gain XP. This allows it to gain XP even if it is not actively fighting. If multiple units with Support Veterancy are nearby, the gained XP will be shared equally amongst them.
Self-Repair: Active ability. When activated, the unit disables its movement and weapon while repairing itself at a rate of +12 health per second. This can only be activated when damaged and out of combat. Lasts for a duration of 15 seconds or when the unit is fully repaired, whichever comes first. Very useful to keep the Jeep in the field longer after sustaining damage, especially without requiring an
Signal Detection: Passive ability gained only when the Jeep is upgraded with Scout Commander. When stationary, this unit will periodically reveal enemy units within a range of 90 around it, even through the fog of war. This is represented as a 'radar ping' where white rings periodically radiates from the vehicle. If it overlaps with an enemy unit in the fog of war, they will be detected and either an infantry or vehicle icon will show up on the screen and mini-map. While it does not reveal the exact unit identity nor provide vision in the fog of war, it essentially shows the player the positioning and type of unit(s) in the fog of war. Moving will disable this ability and interrupt any current detection rings being sent out.

This unit represents the Willys MB, commonly known as the Willys Jeep. It was the world's first mass produced four-wheel drive vehicle and was the primary light multi-role wheeled vehicle for the USF during World War II.
While the term 'jeep' often refers to four wheel drive trucks, 'Jeep' is also a US motor manufacturing brand. This is likely the reason why the unit name does not use this term at all, in order to avoid copyright issues.

Without veteran level 1 being immediately provided by the Armored Battlegroup, the 4x4 suffers from a somewhat high cost that often makes Riflemen, that scale into the late game, a better choice.
We are reducing the cost of the 4x4 to create a more meaningful choice where the player goes for a cheaper unit that can provide an early game advantage at the cost of scaling and being easier to lose.
